SXSW event promotes diversity in games
In celebration of International Women’s Day, EA’s Global Talent Acquisition Team hosted an exclusive SXSW Interactive event to support Girls Make Games. What better time to promote the importance of diversity in games?
Girls Make Games is a series of international summer camps, workshops and game jams designed to inspire the next generation of designers, creators and engineers. While women make up a large portion of the gamer audience, there are far less women working in the gaming industry.
EA’s silent auction and networking event consisted of live music, refreshments, and an address from a Director of EA’s TA team as well as Laila Shabir, Founder of Girls Make Games. With 56 attendees, the auction was able to raise $1800 – enough to cover the cost of a week-long camp for four girls.
Thank you to all who coordinated and attended!
