The People Of EA

Angela

Production Coordinator, EA Studios- Shared Services
Burnaby (EAV)
Background
I grew up in the Vancouver area and spent most of my free time at dance studios studying all forms of dance from ages four to twenty-one. I then went to a local university, initially studying Business Administration and ending with a diploma in Marketing Management. I worked odd jobs throughout university until I landed a job at a salon distribution company for a well-known global hair product brand. I worked there for three years with my last role focusing on Marketing Communications.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and going on vacations. My husband and I have two cats and we enjoy doing home renovations together.

Getting Your Start with EA
I had a friend who worked at EA and he had always said that I would be a really great fit as a Production Coordinator. He mentioned a position had become available and thought I should apply. I hesitated because I knew it was probably a long shot to actually get a job at EA as it was such a well-known, successful company and would probably be a highly competitive position. He referred me anyways. I applied and within a week I had a phone interview. Every single person I met that day was friendly and welcoming… and a week later I had the job!

Working at EA
Over the past three years working as a Production Coordinator, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning the role. I have enjoyed getting to know different groups I’ve had the opportunity and pleasure of working with. Each team has their own way of functioning and my job is to understand how they function and help them make sure they are able to do their jobs with ease. There’s a new challenge every day and that keeps the role interesting. It’s extremely satisfying when you have a positive impact on a large group of people.

EA gave me the opportunity to visit our Orlando studio in the summer of 2015. As my role is mainly administrative, I don’t have much reason to travel, but an opportunity came about and I couldn’t pass it up! It was great to see how other studios function and get to know the people I support there as well.

EA’s Impact
EA is great at enforcing “work/life balance” and creating a positive office environment. The onsite facilities at our studio in Vancouver have helped me create an active schedule for myself, allowing me to use the gym and stay healthy. I think it’s important to have access to things like that and it’s been fun attending workout classes with people I don’t work with on a regular basis.

I have had the pleasure of getting to know some really wonderful people at EA. Some of these people have become very important in my life and I’m lucky to have been able to build these friendships that will last a lifetime. It’s also fun to find a great group of women in the gaming industry!

Any Thoughts to Those Seeking a Career at EA?

I have had the opportunity to work with a group of extremely creative, innovative and intelligent people with the same goal – to create amazing games. There are many perks and benefits to working at a large and successful company like EA. But let the reason you choose to apply to EA be that you want to surround yourself with a fantastic group of minds and to make a difference in the gaming community.
