AFC East Club Championship & Derwin James vs. The World

AFC East Madden champs were crowned and Derwin schooled Jerry Jeudy during dinner.

Madden Championship Series

On this week’s live stream, we had champs defending their Club title, big plays, huge upsets, and Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy eating food. Out of context, that last one sounds odd. I know. More on that later.

Here’s how it broke down.

Buffalo Bills

Prodigy vs. SteveyJ

These two know each other well and you couldn’t have made a more even pairing in a Madden match other than Prodigy and SteveyJ.

Both players let their defense do a lot of their talking, and it showed quickly. On Prodigy’s second play of the game, SteveyJ forced a fumble on a diving QB. It was a great start for SteveyJ, but Prodigy’s own defense held strong to force a field goal.

Next drive, Prodigy got a free play from a penalty flag and took a deep shot to Stefon Diggs for the game’s first touchdown, and it was an absolute dot.

SteveyJ notched a rushing TD himself and Prodigy kicked a FG to leave the game tied at 10 going into halftime.

In the second half, SteveyJ’s signature defense locked-in. He took the lead again in the third quarter with a 51-yard FG. Prodigy failed to convert later on a fourth down, just yards away from the endzone.

Backed against the wall, SteveyJ narrowly avoided a safety, only to miss the power indicator on the punt. That gave Prodigy amazing field position where he would ultimately score the go-ahead TD.

SteveyJ had a couple chances after that. It was a game of inches and Prodigy came away with a win, becoming the first player to eliminate a defending Club Champ this season.

New York Jets

Franchise vs. Dntcareaboutice

Before this one got started, there was talk about Franchise having something special cooked up for this game. Leading up to kickoff, he had his feet up, he was pumped, he had goggles on, and was looking to make an upset.

But despite all that swagger, this game belonged to Dntcareaboutice. He hit a huge dot early, snagged a pick-six, and hit a FG for a 17-0 lead. Franchise got his game face on and started marching downfield, but threw a costly INT at the five-yard-line in the final minutes of the first half. That’s where the score stayed going into the second half.

That didn’t change in the second half … like, at all.

Dntcareaboutice won it 27-3, becoming the three-time NY Jets Club Champion.

New England Patriots

TDBarrett vs. Noahupnxt

This was the most anticipated matchup of the Club Championship so far. Noah has come into the Madden competitive scene strong and Barrett was trying to be the first Canadian native to win a Club Championship.

Noah drew first blood. But Barrett answered with a massive dot to tie the game up in the second quarter. Barrett got into a defensive groove, but Noah converted multiple fourth downs to keep the drive alive and hit a FG to make the game 10-7 after the half.

The rest of the game was a chess match. Barrett proved he could go toe-to-toe with one of the best players in the MCS. The final went 24-17 to Noah, but Barrett showed that he’s a talent to watch in the competitive Madden scene. Noah is one of the toughest opponents out there.

Miami Dolphins

Blocky vs. DatBoi

Blocky is notoriously one of the quietest players in the entire Madden community. So quiet that OneGreatUser couldn’t even remember Blocky’s first name (awkward). He’s also one of the most skilled players out there. So it’s not surprising that pregame discussion revolved around just how heavily favored Blocky was in this matchup.

DatBoi wasn’t having any of that talk. He chipped away at Blocky’s defensive scheme all day, running in a pair of short rushing TDs early.

But Blocky wasn’t out yet. He put together a clutch drive to put the game within a two-point conversion. The pass didn’t hit, but there was still more than two minutes left.

Didn’t matter though. DatBoi put the game away with the best dot of the night. He’s the new Miami Dolphins Club Champ, in the biggest upset of the season, and did it solo without a lab crew. Biggest win of the season so far.

If you didn’t know DatBoi’s name before, you sure do now.

Derwin James vs. The World

Derwin has been dominating all challengers this season. But if you’ve been watching the live streams, you know that the NFL Rookies bracket of the King of the Hill was highly contested as well. The runner-up, Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy, displayed some great skill in that tournament and he stepped up to pick up the sticks against Derwin.

Jeudy has already shown superb router running at the NFL level, but also decided to try something new against Derwin this season … food. That’s right, Jeudy decided he was going to fit in a match with Derwin in between some cheesesteaks.

It was something to watch.
