Apex Legends™: Apex Artifacts

Carve your destiny with customizable Apex Artifacts. Your melee, your way.

Alter stands staring at the camera with an Apex Artifact at the ready, flanked by two Legends with two other variants of Apex Artifacts.

What began with the Cobalt Katar continues with a new way to personalize your Apex Legends experience! Carve your destiny with Apex Artifacts, customize each variant’s Theme, Power Source, and more with Exotic Shards, mixing and matching to craft your own calling card of destruction.

APEX ARTIFACTS

Apex Artifacts were given to each of the Legends by the Mercenary Syndicate to bring something new and exciting to the Games to distract from the recent disruption of Revenant and untimely death of Duardo Silva. The smallest particle of Branthium indefinitely powers each Katar in order to maintain their ominous presence.

With the assistance (and insistence) of Rampart herself, the Katars were created with the ability to be modded for customization to each wielder’s preference—that means you

The Legends have their heirlooms, and now you have something that’s yours.

YOUR MELEE, YOUR WAY

It wouldn’t be a Rampart influenced item if it wasn’t unique!

First, we start with the Katar Base—the item itself—which is available via the Mythic Shop and may appear in Milestone events (like the Cobalt Katar in Shadow Society). From there it’s all about upgrades, mate. With Bases, Themes, Power Sources, Activation Emotes, and Death Boxes, there are more than 200 combinations. Will you customize it to your in-game or out of game personality, find a combo to match your favorite skin, or go for something totally random?

Anyone who unlocked the Cobalt Katar in the Shadow Society will have a bit of a head start with their collection. Because you’re a trailblazer, you deserve to be rewarded: every player with the Cobalt Katar in their inventory at the start of Upheaval’s launch will automatically unlock four Cobalt upgrades: the Cobalt Katar Base, Theme, Power Source, and Activation Emote. Boom…now go get some!

Forbidden Zone on the updated Storm Point surrounded by scorched earth.

Note: once a player owns the Katar Base, they can start unlocking customizations for any set (i.e. Molten or Gladius), but customizations must be unlocked in sequential order: Base → Theme → Power Source → Activation Emote → Death Box

CHASE VARIANT: NITRIDE

Once all five variants of an upgrade component have been collected, you will automatically unlock the Nitride variant of that piece. For instance, you’ll unlock the Nitride base once you’ve collected the other five Katar set bases. Considering the other five Katars have ties to Outland locations, Nitride is a curious choice…don’t you think?

EXOTIC SHARDS

Each upgrade component, including the Death Box, can be acquired using Exotic Shards. This new currency can be purchased directly like Apex Coins, and we may see small amounts earnable in future via events or Battle Pass—like the 10 you can earn this season.
