Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Season 2 Nightfall Event and Bonus Path Guide

March 17, 2026

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

Soldiers in tactical gear move through a dim industrial corridor with rifles and flashlights, debris on floor and bright lights overhead.

The key to peace - armed or not - is locked in Hagental Base.

Past the Contaminated Bavarian countryside, dusk falls over Pax Armata’s stronghold of Hagental Base, once owned by their NATO adversaries, as well as their plans with Project Veles. Tying up a loose end from Dagger 1-3’s discovery (in the Battlefield 6 Campaign), Pax Armata holds the power of Project Veles, a cyberwarfare tool that blacks out satellite imagery to hide military movement patterns. Hagental Base houses NATO’s Satellite Operations Center, the network for their European intelligence network that, if sabotaged by Pax’s weaponization of Project Veles, could permanently blind NATO command.

Pax Armata secured the base. Then VL-7 struck.

Pushed back into their commandeered base, Pax Armata is moments away from seizing the Operations Center and securing armed peace. Dagger 1-3 is far from the fight, but it seems another elite special operations force - codenamed Strix Raiders - is primed to help NATO raid the complex. As night operations experts with a formidable counterterrorism resume, these veterans of the Battlefield are primed to stop Pax by securing the satellite network…

And all the while in the Redacted Sector, those dispatched by the Handler synthesized enough VL-7 Smoke to create a stockpile. Further investigation reveals a secret lab underneath Fort Lyndon known as Defense Testing Complex 3, an intricate network of highly classified tunnels left vulnerable for a hostile takeover…

No matter what side you choose to fight for, whether you are ready to battle for control of Hagental Base or Defense Testing Complex 3, it’s time to take a shot in the dark.

How to Complete the Nightfall Bonus Path

The Nightfall Bonus Path can be completed concurrently alongside the Season 2 Battle Pass. In other words, you do not need to choose to make progress between a Season 2 Battle Pass Path and the Nightfall Bonus Path.

Each Bonus Path Tier requires 10 Bonus Path Points to unlock, which means you need to earn 110 Bonus Path points to complete the Bonus Path. Bonus Path Points can be earned in one of two ways:

WEEKLY CHALLENGES award Bonus Path Points; specifically, during the weeks that the Bonus Path is live, those week’s Weekly Challenges will award both Battle Pass Point and Bonus Path Points. For Nightfall, the first and second set of Weekly Challenges will count towards the Bonus Path while it is active.

The amount of Points earned varies by challenge: for example, an easier Weekly Challenge - e.g. completing a handful of Multiplayer Matches - typically awards the least amount of Points,  while the hardest Weekly Challenges - such as winning a handful of Multiplayer Matches - typically award the most amount of Points compared to all other Challenges. Bonus Weekly Challenges, unlocked after completing seven Weekly Challenges before the new set is released, reward the most Points and are usually around medium difficulty, making them the most efficient way to earn points.

NIGHTFALL EVENT CHALLENGES also reward Nightfall Bonus Path Points; these are objectives themed around this update’s new experiences. For example, one specific Nightfall event challenge could be to earn headshot kills, but earning headshots in Nightfall modes will award double progress in that challenge.

Additional Event Challenges are available for BF Pro owners; the Points earned in these can add up to over a single Tier in the Bonus Path. While you can easily complete the Nightfall Bonus Path through the standard Event Challenges and the Weekly Challenges, being a BF Pro owner has its perks…

New Weapon Overview: CZ3A1 SMG

Black compact submachine gun with extended magazine resting on a dark table beside loose bullets and tools.

Battlefield 4 veterans know the power of the CZ3A1 SMG. Overwhelming in terms of fire rate - one of the highest in the class - and recoil, this aggressive close-quarters tool is great for quickly eliminating threats at short range.

Engineer Class soldiers and their passive Signature Weapon benefit can tame this weapon’s recoil when hip-firing, making it perfect when hopping out of vehicles or dealing with an immediate threat around a corner. Otherwise, you might want to use those Attachment Points on anything that reduces visual or physical recoil: think about throwing on a nice optic, an underbarrel grip, or perhaps a laser to ensure those fast-firing shots hit the target.

Additional Free Challenges - Unlock the vz. 61 Sidearm, Weapon Packages, and More

The Nightfall update also includes four additional Challenges for all players, including one that unlocks the vz.61 Sidearm.

To unlock this new Sidearm, you simply need to deal damage with Secondary Weapons in any mode; damage towards this challenge is also double-counted in Nightfall modes. So, if you choose to plunge into darkness with only a Sidearm, your efforts will be rewarded in kind.

We have two recommendations for completing this challenge quickly, if you choose to take them: one school of thought is leaning heavily into the special operations nature and throwing a silencer on a low-caliber pistol. Those who experienced the Battlefield 6 Campaign should refer back to the “Night Raid” here for some inspiration.

Alternatively, because this challenge tallies up damage, you could go loud-and-proud with the Sidearm revolvers. The M44 and M357 Trait deal the most damage per shot and can decimate opponents with a well-placed headshot. So long as your aim is true, or you create situations for easy use in close ranges, it may only take a couple cycles of a revolver to unlock the vz.61.

The other three Challenges allow you to unlock a Weapon Charm and two Weapon Packages, both great for Hagental Base or any experience with tons of close-quarters combat opportunities.

One Weapon Package, the “Grayout” M87A1 Shotgun, is pump-action buckshot spreader great for lurking in the dark corners - provided someone isn’t ready to blow a wall down to find you - or stalking through the shadows of a war-torn city.

The other, the “Acid Drip” M4A1 Carbine Rifle, is styled for those who eliminate toxic elements before they can cause damage. Its attachment set-up can help with managing this high fire rate rifle’s recoil, as well as provide a clear sight picture with a low-magnification holographic optic.

New Weapon Overview: vz. 61 Sidearm

Compact submachine gun with wooden grip and curved magazine resting on a dark surface with loose bullets nearby.

Sidearms will no longer be a choice between semi-automatic pistols and revolvers after the VZ.61 rips into the category as of this update.

Like its SMG counterpart, this compact machine pistol features a high rate of fire, making it most effective in close quarters. However, its low base magazine capacity and underwhelming damage will demand you make every shot count, especially when that Primary Weapon is fresh out of ammo.

Although this Sidearm can fit in any loadout, our recommendation is to pair it with a slow firing, yet powerful, long range Marksman Rifle or Sniper Rifle. These Primary Weapons often can struggle within a dozen meters due to their sluggish aim-down-sight speed and wide hipfire spreads, so it would be a great idea to have this machine pistol to handle an unexpected close-range combatant.

Prepare for Nightfall with New Bundles

In addition to free Challenges and a Bonus Path, Season 2 Nightfall also introduced new bundles into the Store. Among the day one additions is the Strix Raiders Bundle.

Ready to lead, no matter the mission. Battlefield is honored to integrate three real-life Marine Raiders as new playable characters in the Strix Raiders Bundle.

The Strix Raiders Bundle includes:

  • New NATO Unit - 4 new base characters
  • Douglas Pham
  • Rob Brooke
  • Atticus Moore
  • Ibrahim Al-Khatib
  • “True North” Soldier Patch
  • “Slow Shot” Weapon Charm
  • "Moonless" Parachute
  • “Light the Way” Vehicle Decal
  • “Seize the Night” Dog Tag
  • “Eyeshine” Player Card Background
  • "Strix Raider" Player Card Title

We are always looking for opportunities to weave authentic stories – and people – into the fabric of this universe, so when we met Don, Rick, and Prime, we knew we found our new unit. Don Tran, Rick Briere, and Prime Hall all began their careers in the Marine Corps, eventually finding their calling in the Marine Raiders. To add them in-game as playable characters, we captured the highest quality scans of their faces and expressions. You’ll recognize them as: Douglas Pham (Don), Atticus Moore (Rick), and Rob Brooke (Prime).

Throughout Season 2 Nightfall, the following bundles will also be released:

AERIE SWEEP - Strike fast. Strike hard. A bold offensive to protect the nest.

VENOM DRIP - Coat your gear with a clear message: the aftermath will hurt just as much as the initial sting.

WINGED ONSLAUGHT - Equip this kit and get ready to mount a quick and deadly assault.

Top Five Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Nightfall Event Tips

  1. SQUAD UP AND SUPPORT THE SQUAD. You may find it easier to complete Challenges as a full squad. Especially for those requiring resupplies and revives, rally together your squadmates and coordinate some winning tactics for each match and for all your Challenges.
  2. STACK AND ATTACK. Look at your Weekly Challenges and consider ones that can be completed in tandem with the Nightfall Event Challenges. If possible, use those rerolls to create better opportunities to knock out multiple Challenges at once.
  3. KEEP A LOW PROFILE. For Challenges that require close-quarters tactics, such as Melee Takedowns or Sidearm and SMG kills, remember to crouch - or go prone - to soften your movements and better position yourself for success.
  4. EMBRACE THE NIGHTFALL. For some Challenges, progress is doubled when making progress within Nightfall playlists. Squad up for these modes across Battlefield 6 and REDSEC to maximize completion efficiency.
  5. STRONG ARM WITH A SIDEARM. The new VZ.61 is unlocked by dealing damage with Sidearms. While any sidearm can work, the powerful revolvers - the M44 and M357 Trait - will allow you to deal the most damage in the shortest amount of time.
