COLLEGE FOOTBALL 25 - PASSING AND SKILL MOVE TIPS

Tall6Guy breaks down the new passing mechanic as well as the other ones you can select. He also demonstrates every skill move you can do while demonstrating the difference between performing them with and without turbo pressed.

Revamp passing is a new passing system in College Football 25 that builds upon the "classic” passing system. While it retains the basic controls of classic passing, revamp passing offers players enhanced control over several aspects of throwing the football, providing a more refined and strategic passing experience.

PASSING INCREASED CONTROL OVERTHROW ARC AND POWER

Revamp passing allows players to manipulate the trajectory and velocity of their passes with greater precision. This means quarterbacks can better tailor their throws to different situations, such as dropping the ball into tight windows, lobbing it over defenders, or zipping it in on a quick slant route.

PASS ACCURACY METER

The system incorporates a visual meter that dynamically reflects the accuracy of the developing pass. The meter helps players judge the timing and execution of their throws.

  • A blue meter signifies good timing and accuracy
  • yellow indicates potential inaccuracies
  • red warns of significant timing errors that will likely result in an off-target pass.

THROWING RECEIVERS OPEN

Building on the concept of leading receivers, revamp passing enables quarterbacks to "throw receivers open". This means quarterbacks can use well-timed and accurately placed passes to create separation for receivers who might not initially appear open. By anticipating route development and throwing to a spot where the receiver will break free, quarterbacks can exploit defensive coverage and connect on passes that wouldn't be possible with classic passing.

HERE ARE THE DIFFERENT SKILL MOVES

JUKE MOVE

The juke move is a quick sidestep designed to evade a defender. The player flicks the right thumbstick to the right or left to execute the move. The juke is wider and less precise when sprinting. When not sprinting, it becomes a "Precision Juke", which is tighter and more controlled.

SPIN MOVE

The spin move allows a player to rotate their body, potentially evading a defender or breaking a tackle.

There are two ways to perform a spin:

  • Press the O button (PlayStation) or B button (Xbox) and push the left thumbstick left or right to spin in that direction.
  • Rotate the right thumbstick clockwise to spin left, or counter-clockwise to spin right.

Pushing the left thumbstick in a wider direction results in a wider spin.

TRUCK STICK

This move is used to power through a defender. Flicking up on the right thumbstick will engage the truck stick. It is most effective when used by large, physical players like running backs or tight ends.

HESI (HESITATION)

The hesi move is a quick stutter step that can be used to freeze a defender or set up another move. To use it, the player flicks back on the right thumbstick. The appearance and feel of the hesi vary based on sprinting.

  • If you’re Sprinting: it will result in a small hop.
  • If you’re not tot sprinting: it’ll  yield a more dramatic stutter step.

The sprinting hesi can be particularly effective because it is quicker to recover from, making it easier to transition into another move.

HURDLE

This move allows the player to jump over a defender or other obstacle. It is activated by pressing triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox.

DIVE

The dive move is used to avoid contact or lunge for extra yardage. Pressing square on PlayStation or X on Xbox initiates the dive. There are two variations of the dive:

  • Long hold: Results in a dramatic dive where the player leans forward.
  • Tap: Allows the player to give themselves up and avoid a big hit.

STIFF ARM

The stiff arm is used to push away a defender. Pressing X on PlayStation or A on Xbox will execute a stiff arm.

BALL PROTECTION

Hold R1 (PlayStation) or the right bumper (Xbox) and your player will protect the ball with both hands preventing interceptions
