Pre-ordering the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition will enable you to benefit from Dual Entitlement, which lets you upgrade your copy of FIFA 23 from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S at no additional cost.

Here’s all you need to know about how Dual Entitlement works in FIFA 23.

What does Dual Entitlement mean?

Dual Entitlement means you can upgrade your copy of the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S at no additional cost.

Simply put, it gives you access to the game on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, or Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

When does FIFA 23 launch?

FIFA 23 launches worldwide on September 30, 2022. Pre-ordering the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition gives you up to three days’ early access which will enable you to play from September 27, 2022.

What new features are only available in FIFA 23 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S?

FIFA 23 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S includes advances to groundbreaking HyperMotion Technology that bring even more real world football animation into the game, as well as enhancements to your matchday experience.

Does everyone get Dual Entitlement with the purchase of FIFA 23?

Dual Entitlement is only available with the purchase of the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition. The Standard Edition of FIFA 23 does not include Dual Entitlement.

That means if you purchase FIFA 23 Standard Edition on PS4 and upgrade to PS5 later, you would need to purchase the PS5 version of the game to play.

How do I make sure I benefit from Dual Entitlement on my PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S?

If you buy the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition and start playing on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you’ll be able to upgrade your copy once you have the corresponding next generation console (PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S) by downloading it to your new console. 

What if I upgrade from PlayStation 4 to Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One to PlayStation 5?

The Dual Entitlement upgrade is only available when you upgrade from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S.

Do I have to purchase FIFA 23 digitally to benefit from Dual Entitlement?

Yes, you will need to purchase the FIFA 23 Ultimate Edition which is only available digitally to take advantage of the Dual Entitlement offer.

Once I upgrade can I go back to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

Yes, you’ll be able to play FIFA 23 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One after taking advantage of the Dual Entitlement offer.

Can I play the PlayStation 4 version of FIFA 23 on my PlayStation 5, or the Xbox One version on my Xbox Series X|S?

Yes, you can download and play the PlayStation 4 version of FIFA 23 on your PlayStation 5, and the Xbox One version of FIFA 23 on your Xbox Series X|S.

Does Dual Entitlement give me access to both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of FIFA 23, or both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of FIFA 23?

Yes, with Dual Entitlement you’ll be able to access and play both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 version of FIFA 23 on your PlayStation 5, or both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S version of FIFA 23 on your Xbox Series X|S.

You can switch back and forth between each version of the game, providing they are both installed on your PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.

Does my progress in FIFA 23 carry over from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S?

All progress you make or content you acquire within FIFA 23 Ultimate Team (including players, items, coins, FIFA Points, match record, and leaderboard placement), as well as all progression in VOLTA FOOTBALL will transfer from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 and back, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S and back. Progress within all other modes including Online Seasons, Co-Op Seasons, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, etc. will be specific to the console you are playing on and won’t transfer between consoles.

Will my progress transfer if I go from PlayStation 4 to Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox One to PlayStation 5?

No, your progress in VOLTA FOOTBALL and FIFA 23 Ultimate Team will only transfer from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S.

Will PlayStation 5 players be able to match up and play against PlayStation 4 players? What about Xbox Series X|S players with Xbox One?

You will be able to match up with and against other players based on the version of FIFA 23 that you are playing.

FIFA 23 also includes cross-play features, meaning you can match up against players on other same-generation platforms in select modes.

So for example, if you are playing the PlayStation 4 version of FIFA 23, you will be able to match up and play with and against other players who are playing on the same version of FIFA 23 - which includes players on Xbox One.

If you are playing the PlayStation 5 version of FIFA 23, you will be able to match up with and play against other players who are playing the next gen version. That means you can match up and play other players across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Stadia.

Will my pre-order content from PlayStation 4 or Xbox One carry over to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S?

If you redeemed pre-order content in FIFA 23 on PlayStation 4 you will continue to be able to receive and access that content, when using the same account, in FIFA 23 on PlayStation 5. If you pre-ordered FIFA 23 on PlayStation 4, but waited to play the game first on PlayStation 5, you will still receive the content on the applicable account.

If you redeemed pre-order content in FIFA 23 on Xbox One, you will continue to be able to receive and access that content, when using the same account, in FIFA 23 on Xbox Series X|S. If you pre-ordered FIFA 23 on Xbox One, but waited to play the game first on Xbox Series X|S, you will still receive the content on the applicable account.
