WHAT IS THE SPEED PASS?
Every Volume includes a new Speed Pass, a progression system which allows you to earn cars and cosmetics across 75 tiers, with 45 tiers available for free. Earn XP whenever you race, compete in PVP, complete Challenges and/or objectives in Linkups.

Headlining the Vol. 8 Speed Pass is the new meta-car candidate, the Lotus Evija ‘23, with multiple bodykits to fully customize the new ride. There are even XP Boosts to be unlocked that’ll accelerate your Rank and Speed Pass progression.

HOW DOES THE SPEED PASS WORK?
Earn XP to progress your Speed Pass rank and unlock rewards, up to tier 75. XP can be earned from both singleplayer and multiplayer gameplay. 45 tiers of the Speed Pass will have free rewards to unlock. The other 30 tiers can be unlocked by purchasing the Premium Speed Pass*.
DO I NEED TO PAY TO GET THE CONTENT?
Players can unlock 45 tiers of free content as part of the Speed Pass. We offer an additional paid track which unlocks an additional 30 tiers of premium items.
WHAT IS THE PREMIUM SPEED PASS?
The Premium Speed Pass is your new, singular ticket for premium content as part of NFS Unbound's live service volumes. By purchasing the Premium Speed Pass, you get access to all 75 tiers of the Speed Pass, and you will immediately be granted additional XP to boost your progress. Each volume will include an optional Premium Speed Pass* for purchase.
WHY DID YOU CHANGE HOW THE SPEED PASS WORKS?
We’re trying a new approach in our second year of live service, as detailed in our Y2 Roadmap blog. Instead of selling Customs and Swag packs, we’re putting all premium content into a Premium Speed Pass*. This change to the system allows us to deliver more quality content in both the free and premium tiers, and allows us to deliver meaningful, free gameplay updates for everyone in each new volume. As with everything we’re doing this year, we are testing things out and may make further changes.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO UNLOCK THE CONTENT IN THE SPEED PASS?
You have until the end of the current volume to unlock Speed Pass content in both the free and premium tracks. Speed Pass XP will reset upon the release of the next volume, which will include a new Speed Pass.
WHAT IF I WANT CONTENT FROM AN OLDER VOLUME SPEED PASS?
If you don’t purchase and/or play during the volume duration, you can still catch up on Speed Pass content by purchasing a Catch-Up Pack.
If you didn't purchase a Premium Speed Pass during the volume, you can still purchase the car and its bodykits that were featured in the Premium Speed Pass with a Car Set, and you can also purchase a Dynamic Catch-Up Pack that will instantly unlock the 45 tiers of content from the free Speed Pass.
If you did purchase a Premium Speed Pass during the volume, the Dynamic Catch-Up Pack will grant you instant access all 75 tiers (45 free tiers + 30 premium tiers).
Catch-Up Packs release several weeks after a volume ends.
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPEED PASS XP AND RANK XP?
Any XP earned is applied to both Speed Pass progression and Rank progression. The difference is that Speed Pass progression will reset at the end of the volume when a new volume and Speed Pass arrives, and Rank progression will carry over between volumes.
*Premium Speed Pass Content requires Premium Speed Pass and Need for Speed Unbound (sold separately) and all game updates. Requires gameplay to unlock. You must log in before the end of Volume 8 to claim your reward. Failure to log in and claim during this period will result in forfeiting the reward.
