How to Take Down Capital Ships and Flagships
Capital ships and flagships are equipped with immense firepower and heavy shields. In Fleet Battles, you’ll be spearheading assaults against these mighty behemoths of the battlefield.
How to Take Down Capital Ships
In order to destroy an enemy capital ship, you will need to take down its shields and apply damage to the hull. Bomber class starfighters are generally armed with components designed for destroying capital ships. For the Corvette, Raider, Cruiser, and Nebulon B, you’ll want to use ion damage to chew through the shield followed by using explosives and laser fire to damage the hull. Keep the damage up and the ship will fall. It is possible to attack the enemy capital ships even when you don’t have enough morale (see the subsection “What is Morale?” here to learn more) to gain the support of your fleet, but it’s extremely dangerous and generally not recommended.
How to Take Down Flagships
Flagships such as the MC75 and Star Destroyer have regenerating shields, numerous subsystems, and a lot of turrets. Assaults on flagships are multi-phased, and we encourage you to experiment with different starfighter classes and use different components to find the best way for you to destroy it. One could try using an interceptor to swoop in and strafe turrets, making it safer for bombers to come in and disable the shields, in turn allowing the fighters to come in and destroy the shield generators. The key to destroying flagships revolves around knowing the different parts and subsystems of these giants, and how to mitigate their strengths.
