Professions Overview
Q – What is the difference between a Profession and a Career?
Careers are a passive way to earn in-game currency while you’re completing other quests and events. There are currently 10 careers to choose from, which all require the workplaces to be built in your SimTown or Downtown so your Sims can go and work there! The more experienced your Sims are the more Simoleons and XP they’ll earn after each shift. See the SimDex tab in your Active Tasks menu to view your progress unlocking all possible buildable locations.
Professions are similar to careers, but you can go with your Sim to the workplace while they are there to help them earn resources, or simply send them to work offsite. These resources are used to build and upgrade areas inside the workplace called workstations. Currently we have three professions including Police, Film Maker and Medical Staff.
There is no time limit to Professions, all can also be completed at your own pace and at the same time as you do other quests and events! For more detailed information of how professions work, check out our EA Creator, The Girl Who Games' blog for her in-depth walkthrough here.
Q – Tell me more about the new Day Spa Profession!
Although our other professions are available at earlier levels (eg. Police Officer is available from Level 11), the Day Spa is available from Level 45. You’ll find the workplace located on the far right of SimTown, surrounded by tall trees and rocks for the ultimate sanctuary vibes.
Pay the initial building unlock cost (which scales per player level) and once the workplace has been completed, you can commence the new profession!
Q – What are the main differences between a Salon Manager and a Spa Manager?
Before you begin, you’ll need to make one major decision: you can choose to take your Sim down one of two career paths; Spa Manager or Salon Manager!
Each unlocks their own unique track of treatments for your customers to enjoy.
- Spa Manager – Yoga, hot springs spa, massage and facial
- Salon Manager – Manicure & pedicure, barber shop, makeup area, hair salon
Don’t worry about being restricted to only unlocking one avenue, you can always start a second Sim’s career to unlock the other branch of rooms!
Working in the Day Spa
Q – Why is the the majority of the Day Spa locked and inaccessible when I begin?
You’ll start with a few sections of the Day Spa to begin your career (including the reception and Start Work sign) and as you serve customers, you’ll earn resources to continue upgrading the career venue and workstations to transform the Day Spa into a high-end experience! Three workstations will be unlocked to start so you can start helping your Sims by completing actions using these.
Serving Customers
Your Sim will be able to serve non-playable customers that will visit your Day Spa. They’ll each request a different treatment to be pampered!
- Civilian
- Fitness person
- Businesswoman
- Wealthy senior woman
- Businessman
- Influencer
- Simtown market courier
Collecting Resources
When your Sim starts a shift, the NPC Sims will enter with bubbles above their heads that correspond with the treatments available in your Day Spa.
Each task has to be completed at their specific workstation (but only one Sim can use a workstation at one time). New tasks will be added when you unlock new workstations. Depending on the task your Sim is working on, you’ll need to collect these resource types when you complete your shift quotas:
- Massage oil
- Nail files
- Hairdressing scissors
- Tealight candles
- Mascara or Lipsticks
- Frangipani
- Face sheet
- Gold rock stacks

Rewards Overview
Q – What are the prizes (outside of upgrading the Day Spa) that I can earn?
The Day Spa will reward your Sim with exclusive Salon and Spa manager outfits for completing each profession!
The Salon Manager outfit is an apron with a casual t-shirt and jeans, and the Spa manager outfit is a tunic top with matching pants. These can be found in your ‘Create A Sim’ inventory to be worn to the Day Spa anytime, or in any area of the game once you’ve unlocked them!
Q – Once my Sim completes either the Spa or Salon Manager Profession, how does it impact my SimTown?
Once you’ve completed the Day Spa profession, all Sims in your town are free to visit anytime. The initial build of the workplace will add value to your SimTown and any future shifts your Sims complete will also continue to earn your town a passive income.
