UFC 4 Ground and Pound Defense Tips & tricks
Learn how to improve your skills in UFC 4
Blocking Ground and Pound
Blocking on the ground is the same as Stand-Up striking. Hold ^RT^ to block your head and hold ^LT^+^RT^ to block your body. In most tight positions, strikes cannot be blocked, but are usually not very damaging.
Inputs:
^RT^ to Block Head\n^LT^+^RT^ to Block Body.
Avoiding Straights
Straights can be evaded with ^RSLEFT^ and ^RSRIGHT^. This will cause your opponent to lose more stamina than usual. Swaying in the same direction as a Hook can result in significant damage, while swaying away from a Hook can mitigate damage taken.
Inputs:
^RSLEFT^ or ^RSRIGHT^ to evade Straights\n^LB^+^RSLEFT^ or ^RSRIGHT^ to post Hooks.
Avoiding Hooks
Hooks cannot be evaded with Head Movement, but can be posted. Use ^LB^+^RSLEFT^ or ^RSRIGHT^ to post against Hooks matching the same direction the Hook is coming in from. Posting will not defend your fighter from Straights or Hooks from the opposite side. Posting Hooks correctly causes no damage and penalizes the opponent's Stamina.
Inputs:
^LB^+^RSLEFT^ or ^RSRIGHT^
Sweeps and Reversals
Evading a Straight with good timing and a Stamina advantage can escape Ground and Pound immediately with a transition, sweep or get up.
Inputs:
^RSLEFT^ or ^RSRIGHT^ to evade Straights
Getting out of Ground and Pound
The Grapple Advantage Meter is re-purposed during Ground and Pound. It depletes constantly towards the defender's color. When it reaches the defender's color, the defender can end the Ground and Pound by pressing ^RT^.
Inputs:
^RT^ when Grapple Advantage is high.
