EA SPORTS UFC 5 Celebrates UFC International Fight Week
Join the IFW celebration with all-new Legendary Fighters, Alter Egos, and Fight Week Activities.
The UFC has kicked off International Fight Week, a week-long celebration of mixed martial arts. To mark this momentous occasion we’ve added incredible new in-game content to EA SPORTS UFC 5 and put together this hub that will detail all of it.
It just wouldn’t be an International Fight Week without recognizing the pioneers of the sport and it’s an honor to add these UFC Hall of Famers to UFC 5:
Bas Rutten - What can be said about “El Guapo” that hasn’t already been said? He’s done it all, former UFC Heavyweight Champion, movie star, sports commentator, and lethal self-defense video instructor. Bas Rutten revolutionized the sport of MMA with his cerebral fighting style, well-roundedness, and charisma. When you pick Bas in UFC 5 you’ll have an arsenal of lighting-fast kicks, powerful punches and when it hits the ground, a very dangerous set of submissions.
Kevin Randleman - Kevin Randleman elevated the wrestling game in MMA when he burst onto the scene at UFC 19. This two-time NCAA Division I collegiate wrestler could take his opponent down in the blink of an eye and just as quickly KO them. If you’re looking for picture-perfect takedowns and earth-shaking ground and pound, “The Monster” is who you want to pick in UFC 5.
Jens Pulver - The very first Lightweight Champion in UFC history, “Little Evil” pioneered the lighter weight classes and made the fans take notice with his exciting performances and exceptional skills. Great footwork, fast hands, and KO power are what you get when you pick Jens Pulver in UFC 5.
Speaking of Hall of Famers, we’ve also added Alter Egos for the new Hall of Fame inductees:
Anderson Silva from UFC 117 - Anderson “The Spider” Silva showed what it means to be a champion at UFC 117. Throughout four and a half rounds, he was knocked down, wrestled, and dominated by Chael Shonnen but with about two minutes left in Round 5, he took a deep breath and threw up one of the most amazing triangle armbars ever witnessed. Lesser fighters would’ve succumbed to fatigue and their fate to lose the fight but not The Spider, who left everything in the Octagon that night except for his Middleweight Championship belt. Pinpoint striking accuracy and some of the best footwork ever are what you’ll get with this Alter Ego of Anderson Silva.
Chael Sonnen from UFC 117 - At UFC 117, Chael P. Sonnen backed up almost everything he said he was going to do. “The Bad Guy” was seconds away from winning the UFC Middleweight Championship that night and shocking the world but Anderson Silva had other plans. One of the best middleweights to never hold a belt, pick this Alter Ego if you want powerful takedowns and a stifling top game.
Shogun Rua from UFC 113 - It’s just not possible for Shogun to be in a boring fight and his rematch at UFC 113 is no exception. This rematch saw Shogun end the fight with a devastating KO and become the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Brutal and fast kicks along with heavy-handed striking are what you’ll get with this Alter Ego.
Frankie Edgar from UFC 136 - Frankie finally had all the answers for his opponent at UFC 136, the third and final fight in a trilogy that saw Frankie get dropped and almost taken out in the first round. Anyone familiar with Frankie knows it takes far more than a knockdown and some punches to get him out of the fight. In the final minute of Round 4, "The Answer" overcame all obstacles by knocking out his opponent and retaining his UFC Lightweight Championship belt. Amazing footwork and blazing-fast takedowns are what you get with this Alter Ego in UFC 5.
Joanna Jędrzejczyk from UFC 211 - Pure striking domination is what Joanna Jędrzejczyk delivered at UFC 211. Fast powerful kicks, thudding knees, and brutal elbows were delivered in large quantities to her opponent. At the end of Round 5, Joanna showed the world why she is known as Joanna Champion. If fast and accurate strikes from all eight limbs are what you want in an Alter Ego, look no further.
If that isn’t enough content for International Fight Week, we’ve also got the UFC 303 Fight Week Punch Card and Fight Picks starting today.
