TJ’s Top Five: OOP Legends

We know these legends are OP, but which OP legends are still OP when OOP?! Here are my top five out-of-position Ultimate Legends.

Mean Joe Greene (FB - 95 OVR)

If you’ve read this newsletter more than once, or watched GMM, you know how much I love fullbacks. Are they relevant in winning MUT games? Maybe not as much as, say, a top-tier QB, but they can be used strategically nonetheless. I am here for a 6’4, 275-pound human being in the backfield. And he still has a 92 speed? This could become a unicorn real quick in certain circumstances.

Ray Lewis (TE - 95 OVR)

This OOP Ray Lewis item makes a fantastic all-around tight end. The 91 speed and 95 catching are more than solid, but the 93 strength and 93 run blocking seal the deal for me. When this Lewis item is on the field, your opponent will have no idea what you’re running because there are only a few special defenders who can match this item in man coverage and on run defense.

Elroy Hirsch (HB - 95 OVR)

Hirsch was one of those guys who played both defensive end and running back. You know those guys? That popular breed of player? Unreal. Even though he started playing football 80 years ago, Hirsch had an incredible career by all accounts. As a halfback, this Hirsch item is rocking a 94 speed, 94 change of direction and a 94 break tackle. Not too shabby for a defensive lineman… or a halfback… or… *checks wikipedia page* a RECEIVER?! Stop the madness. This man’s career was unheard of.

Mike Ditka (MLB - 95 OVR)

The only non-offense item making my list here is Mike Ditka’s! His 96 hit power, 95 zone coverage and 92 speed make him the consummate middle linebacker. At six-foot-three, the height in the middle of the field is absolutely clutch on defense, too. His play recognition is the only rating slight lacking (84) but everything else more than makes up for that. I see your Mike Ditka TE and I’ll match it with my Ditka MLB! Big Ditka energy!

Night Train Lane (QB - 95 OVR)

This item will surely rival Derrick Henry’s OOP QB item for one of the most desirable players in MUT to have under center. First things first, the 94 speed and 96 throw power combo is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. Then, you tack on a 95 short throw accuracy, 95 throw on the run and a ton of other attributes that make this item absurdly valuable. Time to hop on the Night Train Hype Train because it’s leaving the station.

That’s it for this week’s newsletter, thank you for sticking around all season! Tune into Good Morning Madden for more updates from The Young Alge Crumpler, I’ll be back here with more news as it rolls out!
